Executive coaching, coach-the-coach, psychological assessments, OD/training, including group facilitation and team-building, conflict resolution, design of 360-degree feedback and other instruments as well as creation of performance and organizational change management processes. He assists individuals in their career assessment and choice, utilizing a battery of multifaceted tests.
The founder of J. M. Cohen Associates over 30 years ago, he provides organizational effectiveness services to companies nationally and overseas. Not only has he designed team and company-wide programs that have excellent ROI’s, but has created a coaching process, Triadic Coaching (TC), that has significantly improved the efficacy of executives.
Case Examples
One notable case is at Johnson & Johnson where he coached the head of a worldwide function. As the executive made significant improvement, Jeff also designed team-building processes and career planning modules for his mostly Ph.D.-educated staff. A second example was that he was chosen from among 250 consultants to coach the founder and other key executives of a services firm in Houston that grew from $53 million to $1.2 billion in only 7 years. A third success: aiding the promotion of a senior Philips executive to Site General Manager and then her promotion to SBU GM two years later. Further, he coached nationally for a consulting firm, assisting new partners in making the transition to ownership ranks.
Jeff's Corporate Experiences
Revlon's International Division, where, as Director of Human Resources, he provided guidance and troubleshooting in 26 countries. This included acting as Regional Vice President, on site, in Paris and as country function director in Toronto. Earlier, at Hertz, he managed multiple departments.
Consulting Experiences
Business Sector Director for ORC where he marketed and delivered a range of compensation and organization effectiveness services. Other consulting: include seven combined years with The Hay Group and Pradco; here, he provided training, psychological assessment, incentive compensation and OD research services.
Leadership Honors, Speaking & Writing
The Conference Board, that wrote that the performance management system his firm introduced to Chevrolet was “state-of-the-art,” has recognized his firm. A frequent speaker, he has delivered presentations on the present and future state of Executive Coaching. Published in scholarly and popular press, he was commissioned to write, "Executive Coaching: A Retention Tool During Times Of Uncertainty," for an anthology authored by distinguished HR experts. He is a founding Board member and was a two-term president of the NY Human Resources Planning Society. He was a Board member of the HR Association of NY (SHRM). Jeff’s BA in psychology is from Penn State and his MBA in I/O (industrial/organizational) psychology, from Baruch (CUNY). He has published a newsletter for over 10 years; its focus is useable, pragmatic research. He’s been elected to two outside Boards; at one, he rose to President.
